longing, melancholy and passion

In a revivalist composition in which prevail feelings of longing, melancholy and passion, are joined the aesthetics of Portuguese filigree, the colours of Queluz’s baroque and the fate of Fado, “in a bridled convulsiveness, (...) With the desire to proclaim you (...), in an explosive song telling my every sensation, an explosiveness contemporaneous with you, o machines!
(...)

I sing, I sing the present, and the past and the future too”

Álvaro de Campos, London, 1914
